Frequently asked questions
Never. Headers and footers are stamped in your browser using WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device.
{page} inserts the current page number, {total} inserts the total page count, and {date} inserts today's date (e.g. "Jul 23, 2026"). These tokens work in custom text too.
Yes. Select "None" for either field and only the other will be stamped.
Yes. Select "Other…" from the header or footer dropdown to reveal a text field. You can type any text, and tokens like {page} and {date} still work.
Not in a single pass — the same header and footer text is applied to every file in the batch. Process each group separately if you need different text per file.
The default margin is 30 pt from the page edge. If your PDF has content near the top or bottom, increase the Header margin or Footer margin — try 50 pt or 72 pt. For guaranteed zero overlap, enable "Expand page to fit" — this physically grows the page and adds blank whitespace for the stamped text.
When enabled, the tool physically grows each page by the margin amount — adding blank whitespace above for the header and below for the footer. This guarantees the stamped text never overlaps existing content, even in PDFs that fill the page edge-to-edge. The page dimensions of the output will be slightly larger than the original.
